A Chinese language learning textbook for intermediate learners that combined with graphic design, typography, and printing. The content is divided into 5 sections: text, vocabulary, grammar, exercises and cultural introduction.

The title “山姆初趣灣 (Sam’s First Fun in Taiwan)” is a playful and meaningful phrase that reflects the spirit of the textbook. It combines multiple layers of interpretation:

“山姆” (Sam) refers to the protagonist or a learner embarking on a journey to explore Mandarin and Taiwanese culture.

“初” (First) highlights that this is Sam’s first time experiencing Taiwan and learning Mandarin, symbolizing a fresh start.

 “趣” (Fun) conveys the joy and excitement of discovering Taiwan’s vibrant culture and language. It also plays on the Mandarin phrase “出去玩” (to go out and have fun), emphasizing the adventurous and enjoyable nature of the experience.

 “灣” (Taiwan) anchors the setting, showcasing the beauty and uniqueness of Taiwan as the backdrop for this exploration.

Together, the title reflects the idea of a beginner’s fun-filled journey in Taiwan, inviting readers to join Sam in discovering the language, culture, and joy that Taiwan has to offer.
